JT Boys Hold On To Defeat Lee, Girls Clinch Third Place

After an overtime thriller in their first meeting, you could expect fireworks for their second matchup.

Friday night, John Tyler faced off with the Robert E. Lee Red Raiders for a second time at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Gymnasium.

The Lions led by eight points with about five minutes left in the game. Lee would capitalize off of some turnovers and fouls to tie it up late.

But the Lions would pull away again and held on to win 53-47.

The Lions and Red Raiders can still make the playoffs but will need some help. Longview will have to lose their game next week and JT and Lee will both have to win on Tuesday to see the post season.

The John Tyler Lady Lions and Longview Lady Lobos were in a battle for third place in District 12-5A and the two teams decided to settle things the old fashion way: playing for it.

It was a close battle, the game went into double overtime. JT prevailed, 48-46.
