Lindale ISD has flagged a package of meat with the labels of those matching recalled beef. The school had pulled beef off their menu this week while inspecting their supply. They say they will not serve any beef until the inspection is complete.
An undercover investigation found sick and crippled cattle at a slaughterhouse. The Department of Agriculture is now investigating Westland-Hallmark Meat Packing for possible violations of food and animal safety laws.
Whitehouse ISD also found a package of questionable beef. Officials tell us they've isolated the meat and are waiting to hear from the Texas Department of Agriculture on how to get rid of it.
The news certainly sent school districts across East Texas scrambling... The vendor used by Tyler ISD reassured district officials there that the bad meat was not in any of its schools. Over in Bullard, none of the tainted beef was found.
No children have been reported ill since the alert went out.
