Hallsville ISD Releases Statement Regarding Weapon Found On Campus

Carol Greer, Hallsville ISD Public Information Officer, has released a statement on the lockdown and unloaded weapon that was found at the Hallsville High School this morning.

The statement reads as follows:

"Hallsville High School administrative staff acted quickly when a student reported that another student had a firearm. The campus was in lockdown mode for 35 minutes; a school backpack was located, searched and an unloaded firearm was  found. The student was removed from the campus by the HHS Resource Officer and the Hallsville Police Department.

When it was known that the students were not in any danger, the building lockdown was lifted.

All reports by students are  taken very serious and action toward the situation is immediate. This is a perfect example of procedures in place that result in student safety, which is the number 1 priority in the Hallsville Independent School District."
