One of Two Men Caught in Manhunt

One of two suspects has been captured after an eight-hour manhunt in Gregg County.

The search for the two men began just after noon Tuesday on Farm to Market Road 2207 just north of Liberty City.

Investigators say the men broke into two homes and impersonated officers. Investigators say the 23-year old suspect captured just before 8 o'clock p.m. is from Tyler.

The incident began when Kenneth Freeman saw two men as he pulled into his driveway. They identified themselves as law enforcement officers. But, when the men took off in their car, Freeman followed them. He's been in law enforcement for more than 25 years.

He later found their car wrecked in the woods. That's when the manhunt began. Gregg County officers say the hunt for the second suspect will continue until he is captured.

Investigators now say both suspects will be charged with burglary of a habitation. Other charges are pending.
