Store Employees Attack And Strip A "Would- Be" Robber

A "would-be" robber is stopped in his tracks before escaping with no cash, or the clothes on his back. Longview Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob the Exxon American Food Mart located at 3099 Estes Parkway. The robbery happened Sunday night around 9:00pm.  Police say the suspect walked into the store and jumped over the counter. And that's when, police say, employees attacked him. "The employees armed themselves with bats and attacked him to try and prevent him from getting to their registers. When the suspect came in he was wearing a pair of shorts and a jersey. Sometime during the struggle he lost not only the jersey but he lost his shorts. When he fled the store he was only wearing a pair of boxers,"said Sergeant Shaun Pendleton, of the Longview Police Department. The suspect is described as a black male between 35 and 45 years of age, 6'1, about 180 pounds, with a thin build and short hair.

Police say he fled in a Jeep Cherokee. If you have any information, call Longview Police.
