Bank Robbery Arrest Made

Yesterday, the Marshall Police Department captured the suspect in the Austin Bank robbery which occurred in Marshall on 01/25/2008. The suspect, Kevin Dale McCain, 49, was arrested in Vicksburg, Mississippi on 01/31/2008.

McCain had been arrested in a neighboring city on unrelated charges when authorities from Vicksburg discovered that McCain was the possible suspect in the Vicksburg Bank robbery, but had been released on those charges. Authorities still had McCain's vehicle in impound and was in the process of inventorying it when McCain came to retrieve his vehicle. McCain was then arrested for the bank robbery that occurred in Vicksburg.

Further investigation revealed that McCain admitted to a bank robbery in Vicksburg, Mississippi on 01/30/2008, the robbery of Austin Bank in Marshall on 01/25/2008 and the attempted robbery of the Wal-Mart in Bossier City, Louisiana on 01/26/2008. Marshall Police Detectives had already been in contact with Bossier City Police Department after Detectives from Marshall had seen television coverage of the attempt in Bossier City and felt that both agencies were seeking the same suspect.

The suspect is being held in Vicksburg, Mississippi on the bank robbery charge. The Harrison County District Attorney‘s Office, Marshall Police Department and the Federal Bureau of

Investigation are investigating and will determine how and when McCain will face state and federal charges.
