Armed Robber Hits A Tyler Exxon Station

A cashier at Kulsom's Exxon was frightened by an armed robber who fired off shots inside the store Monday morning.

It happened around 3 p.m.on the 1500 block of South Vine in Tyler.

Tyler police say a robber wearing a mask pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded money.   When the cashier hesitated, the suspect fired at a stack of soda cans near the check-out counter. The robber then turned his gun back on the cashier as she gathered money from the register.

The robber told the woman to lie on her stomach and then fled from the scene. "When the gun didn't go off after pointing at me, he came around and fired at the cans and then came back around," said cashier Tamera Sides. I guess maybe he did it to prove a point."

The suspect made off with just under $75.

The man is described as a stocky black male, between 5'8 and 5'10. He was also wearing a gray and white hooded sweatshirt and a blue bandanna to disguise his face. Tyler police are still investigating, and police technicians are analyzing evidence left at the scene.
