Principal Cheers on TAAS Scores

These days, school principals don't just have to be educators, they're also cheerleaders.

That's what happened Monday morning at Kissam Elementary in Chapel Hill. Assistant Principal Chris Sturm donned a cheerleader's uniform to celebrate the school's recent TAAS scores. Both the third grade reading and fifth grade math scores rose by eleven points. That's the largest increase in Kissam's history.

Principal Kaye Hayden dyed her hair blue and gold for the day. But unlike the memory of Sturm in a skirt, the hair dye should wash out easily.
