Update: Anderson County Oil Field Fire Under Control

Update (3:15pm): Fire crews have reportedly gotten the fires under control this afternoon. KLTV will have video and more information from the scene of the fire on KLTV 7 News at 6pm.

Update: Crews from a dozen volunteer fire departments are struggling to control the oil field fire that is now said to be blazing from at least four oil storage fuel tanks.

Crews want to keep those flames from spreading to nearby wooded areas. The fire first started in an isolated area.

Reporters at the scene say flames shot about 50 feet in the air as firefighters used foam to contain the fire. The fire broke out around 9 am this morning. Authorities tell us that the tanks could have been hit by lightning from this morning's storms in the area.

Emergency managment officials are on the scene, and no evacuations have been ordered at this time.

KLTV has a crew on the scene and will bring you more details as the situation develops.

Stay tuned to KLTV 7 News Midday at 11:30am and KLTV.com for more details.
