In less than a week, East Texas authorities make another major drug bust, this time seizing almost 80 pounds of marijuana.
Sunday, Sulphur Springs police stopped a car traveling on I-30 for a traffic violation. When the driver began acting suspicious, the police officer asked to search the car. The officer was denied consent, but using his K-9 partner, police say the officer was able to find 79 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the car. Police arrested the driver, Sheldon Carr, 31 of Tennessee and charged him with possession of marijuana.
Last week, the Smith County Sheriff's Department seized more than 240 pounds of marijuana from a car traveling on I-20.
