The Wood County Sherriff's Department made several drug busts over the weekend.
On Saturday, a vehicle was observed driving south on Highway 69 with a defective license plate. After the vehicle was stopped, a K-9 search revealed 2.3 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Michael Phillips, 39, of South Dakota, and Tammy Smith, 39, of Louisiana were arrested and transported to the Wood County Jail.
Also on Saturday, another Wood County officer observed a vehicle with a defective license plate light. The vehicle was stopped and the driver of the vehichle, Micah Loyd Cunningham, 23, consented to a search. When searched, the vehichle was found to contain 5 ounces of marijuana and approximately 15.6 grams of Hydrocodone. Cunningham was arrested and taken to jail to face charges.
On Sunday, an officer was dispatched to a county road in reference to an assault. Once there, the officers found Refugio Amador Diaz in his residence, where his girlfriend had accused him of assaulting her. Diaz was allegedly in the process of distributing crack cocaine when the officers arrived, and he was arrested after 10 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia were found in his residence. Diaz was arrested and taken to the Wood County Jail. Diaz also has an immigration hold on him.
