It was a big surprise for an East Texas college professor, Saturday. He thought he was receiving a grant for his university, but ended up getting much more.
Professor Bruce Chase arrived at East Texas Regional Airport Saturday morning, expecting to discuss a possible grant for his Aeronautic Science Department at LeTourneau University. Instead, he was awarded a rebuilt 1976 single engine Cessna Cardinal aircraft. The plane was given to him through a yearly sweepstakes he won from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Needless to say, Chase was totally surprised.
Chase was also presented with a $5,000 grant by the owners and pilots association.
