Gems, jewelry, and other treasures from the earth. It's all for you to see in Tyler this weekend. The East Texas Gem and Mineral Society is putting on its annual show at the Tyler Rose Garden.
Many East Texans came out Saturday to shop and look around. The show also includes silent auctions, gem-stone carving, and one of the most popular attractions, the busting open of rocks.
"They just busted a rock over here on the other side and a big quartz came through and it was black and I just really had to admire how they did it and how they cut them," said June Hofner, who is visiting from Ohio. "This whole show is very interesting. Seriously, if you don't come you're really missing out on a lot of stuff."
"It's got lots of amethyst and I know that's really rare," said Jet Strickland, who purchased a rock Saturday. "I've never seen that kind of crystal before, I think that's really cool."
If you didn't get a chance to get there Saturday, the show is open again on Sunday. It's at the Tyler Rose Garden Center and runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
