Texas Department of Agriculture Names "Longview" A Certified Retirement Community

Florida isn't the only place where people can retire. The Texas Department of Agriculture has named "Longview" as a "certified retirement community". The city says the certification will likely boost the local economy. "This is about tourism dollars, this is about retirement dollars, this is about expendable amounts of cash that are tremendous, that can really help Longview. Not only will it help Longview, but this entire East Texas region as we move forward to bring these type of dollars in our community," said Longview Mayor Jay Dean.  Longview is the seventh community in the state to be recognized. Texas is the second most popular retirement state in the country.
