Sheriff's Deputies Struggle With Pit Bulls, Arrest Two

Smith County Sheriff Deputies had their hands full with several pit bulls Thursday, after arresting two men, one who was a burglary suspect. The pit bulls lived at the house where deputies caught the two men after a brief car chase. The suspects stopped at a house, and the driver ran into some woods.

"They got a bunch of pit bulls here. Several on chains.  Three weren't on chains. Two of them almost got on the deputy and they were acting kinda crazy. So we've been trying to fight the dogs off and detain the suspect. We had animal control come out and pick up the dogs that were loose," says Lt. Craig Shelton with the Smith County Sheriff's Office.

Homer Clay, 27, of Tyler was charged with possession of marijuana, evading arrest, as well as facing previous possession charges. Tony Boswell, 23, was arrested and faces multiple traffic and theft charges in Kaufman County.
