East Texas Student Returns Back To Class After "In School Suspension" Because Of Her Hair Color

A follow up tonight. An East Texas middle school student will return to class--- no longer serving "in school suspension" because of her hair color. Forest Park iddle school student , "Kymiah Carter" was disciplined Tuesday, after school officials told her mother her hair didn't comply with the school's code of conduct. Today, a Longview ISD school official reviewed those rules and is letting Kymiah return back to school tomorrow. Her mother says now that this ordeal is over, she hopes the school and parents can work together to make sure this doesn't happen again. "They're is a lot of things that go on in schools, and some parents just sit back and can't do anything about it. There can be something done. We don't make decisions the school makes decisions but we can come together as one and make decisions together," said Kymiah's mother, Debbie Harris. Because of our story, Longview ISD tells us all three middle school campuses are meeting, to review their polices, to make sure the schools' rules line up with the district's code of conduct.
