Suspicious Smell Leads to Suspicious Tanks in Smith Co.

The Smith County Sheriff's Department and DPS narcotics received a tip about a suspicious smell of ether coming from a house on Lucky Street in Tyler.

Sheriffs went to check out the smell, associated with cooking meth, and, after obtaining a search warrant, found two different tanks of anhydrous amonia.

According to narcotics investigators, no meth lab was found, but it is a second degree felony to store anhydrous amonia in the unapproved tanks because it's so toxic.

Smith County investigators made another discovery in the garage, a stolen truck. On Thursday night deputies were still searching for the person who lived in the home.
