A small army of Tyler Police officers scrambled Thursday night to get a suspected hit-and-run driver off the road.
Tyler Police tell KLTV 7 it started around 7 on Kinsey and Loop 323, when the driver, identified as Robert Kassube, reportedly slammed into a box truck, and then sped off.
Officers say at times, Kassube was driving with his lights off and jumping curbs, narrowly missing other drivers.
Several police cars joined the chase, following Kassube through several side streets.
Finally, they had to use spikes to bring the truck to a stop on Paluxy and the Loop.
Refusing to come out of the truck, police had to break one of the windows to get him out.
Officers then surrounded the suspect, and at one point had to use tasers to finally get him under control.
No one was injured in the chase or the wreck that preceded it.
Robert Kassube was taken to the Smith County Jail. He is expected to be charged with evading arrest and DWI.
