Authorities Say They Need Your Help In Nailing Down The Details

On Friday, January 4, the night Chris McCuin allegedly kidnapped his girlfriend, Jana Shearer. Smith County Investigators said he was driving a 1998, extended cab, Chevy Silverado pick-up truck with Texas Plates: 21L-LD4.

Officials said McCuin was driving that truck in the Whitehouse and Antioch areas, where Shearer lived.  Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities said McCuin broke into his estranged wife's home on Smith County Road 413, and stabbed her boyfriend, William Veasey.  Sometime that night, it's believed McCuin also broke into Tyler Custom Openings on Loop 323.  Then he was finally taken into custody Saturday morning at his mother's home.  Officials are asking for information from anyone who may have seen a truck like McCuin's in those areas last weekend.

Often times, African American history is only recognized during the month of February.  Founders of the Texas African American Museum felt their history slowly slipping away, now they are hoping to change that with the opening of the museum. "Some of the things I've seen in this little museum, I've not seen in history books, I've not seen online," visitor Cramoeya Cooper said. Though it may be small, the Texas African American Museum packs an exurbanite amount of inf...More >>
