Rusk Co. Sheriffs Seek Pay Raise

Rusk County Sheriff's deputies are seeking a pay raise, and they're willing to take it to the people for support.

Rusk County deputies were out in Henderson Saturday registering cars for the HEAT program, or Help Eliminate Auto Theft program, but they've also been working to get an across the board pay raise for their department.

Meetings with county commissioners have produced no results.

Deputies are now looking to get a public vote on the issue.  Some say salaries are severely lagging behind other East Texas departments of similar size.  Deputies are planning a meeting with county commissioners on Thursday in a effort to get the issue put on a public referendum.
