Coaching Legend Lowrance Passes Away at 94

His name has been a part of East Texas vocabulary for decades and future generations will play on the field named in his honor for years to come.

Friday night East Texans said goodbye to former Hawkins Coach, the legendary Robert "Red" Lowrance.

Coach Lowrance died Friday at age 94. Lowrance is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Hall of Honor and an SFA Jack of Honor.

Hawkins' Lowrance Field is named after the coach. He was with Hawkins for 26 years.

Visitation is set for Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Beaty Funeral Home in Hawkins.

Final honors for Coach Lowrance will be held at the place he spent much of his life, Hawkins High school. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. also at the Hawkins High School Auditorium.
