Two Survive Tiger Attack

The two survivors of Tuesday's tiger attack were in stable condition at San Francisco General Hospital Wednesday after undergoing surgery to have their wounds cleaned and closed.

A surgeon said they were doing well and were in good spirits. Meanwhile, the San Francisco zoo will be closed Wednesday as investigators try to figure out how a tiger escaped her zoo enclosure on Christmas Day and killed one man and injured the two others.

They planned to conduct a thorough sweep of the zoo grounds. Although more victims are not likely, officials said they wanted to search the zoo during daylight.

The tiger that attacked three young men on Christmas Day, a Siberian named Tatiana, was the same animal that in December 2006 ripped the flesh off a zookeeper's arm. Police officers shot and killed the animal following Tuesday's bloody assaults.
