Police Searching for West Tyler Rapist

Police are still searching for the man who raped a West Tyler woman in her bed Saturday.

This latest rape happened just four days after a South Tyler woman was sexually assaulted in her home, and two weeks after an attempted sexual assault at Autumn Glen Apartments.

On Saturday, the 60-year-old victim was raped at Crossroads Apartments after a man wearing a ski mask, kicked in her door and overpowered her with a knife.

The victim was unable to identify the suspect's race or give a description of his height and weight.

Evidence from the crime scene is being sent to a forensics lab. DNA samples from last week's South Tyler sexual assault and another attempted sexual assault are also being tested.

Tyler police say blood was taken from the Autumn Glen crime scene after the victim bit his hand. Authorities are asking people to look for a black man with a bite mark on his hand. They're afraid the mark may be starting to heal.

Police say they'll know how many suspects they're dealing with when DNA testing is complete, but for now the assaults as separate cases. They expect test results in about five weeks
