A Special East Texas Boy Takes A Picture of A Lifetime

It's a picture perfect moment that you see every year around Christmas time, kids taking pictures with Santa.  For some children, there is nothing better than sitting on Santa's lap, but for others, it can be a frightening experience.  For one special East Texas boy this year's picture with Santa Clause means more than words can say.

T. J. Hieronimus, 14 is like most kids, he loves watching movies and playing with gadgets, but ever since T. J. was born, getting him to take a picture with Santa Clause has been a challenge. That's because he has cerebral palsy.

"We always try to get him to sit in Santa Clause's lap, but he was just petrified of Santa," said TJ's mother, Beth Hieronimus.  This year that all changed and for the first time in 14 years TJ took a picture with Santa at the Longview Mall.

"He did really good," said Hieronimus.  "He sat there, and I had to actually tell him,'ok you can get up now.'  It's just a big change.  I don't know actually what clicked in his little brain to like Santa, but he's decided to like him this year."  Not only did T. J. take one picture with Santa, but he took two more pictures all with the same smile that his mother says is "priceless".

"I love Santa Clause, and I think it's a fun tradition," said Hieronimus.  "Of course, that's not the whole reason of Christmas, but I just love the idea that T. J. is liking Santa Clause.  It warms my heart to know that something is clicking with him."  Clicking and hopefully staying with T. J. Christmas after Christmas and many more to come.
