5 Arrested in Botched Drug Deal

Five Tyler men have been arrested in what police officers are calling a botched drug deal in South Tyler.

Thursday, Tyler Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery around 8:30p.m.

A caller told police two men robbed him at gunpoint, taking his wallet.

Police then stopped a blue Lincoln car in the area of Barbee and South Broadway, arresting four men after finding a gun and drugs.

18-year-old Korwin Gerrod Jones, 19-year-old Dewalan Ladon Kennedy, 20-year-old Ray Davon Woodard and 17-year-old Bryan Mayfield were arrested from the Lincoln and charged with possession of marijuana.

Kennedy & Woodard were also charged with aggravated robbery.

Police also arrested the caller, 17-year-old Dominick Wright after police learned he was trying to purchase drugs from the four men. Wright is charged with filing a false report to a police officer.

Update: The case against Wright and Jones was dismissed in 2008.
