A 7-year-old East Texas boy is being called a hero by his school and his town. Today Jayce Quaid was named honorary Marshall police officer for the day at William B. Travis elementary school. Jayce managed to escape from his grandparents home while wanted felon, Melvin Lee Mobley III allegedly tied them up and assaulted them. Jace jumped from a window, ran to a neighbors home and called 9-1-1. "It was a very frightening thing and my grandson is my hero," said Micki Jones, Jayce's grandmother. "If it wasn't for Jayce my Dad and Mom probably wouldn't be here. I thank him every night that he was brave and did what he did," said Betty Seek, Jayce's mother.
The felon, Mobley was captured by police minutes after Jayce escaped for help to call to 911.
