Fire Destroys An East Texas Football Coach's Home

Coach Tim Russell had no idea that when he would return home from a football game his house would be in ruins. "When I found out that the house was burning the first thing I asked is," how are the kids and how's my wife"? Fortunately, Tim's wife and two daughters age five and nine made it out safe and they count it as a blessing. "Most of our things like all the furniture and clothes were destroyed but, the things that really matter like my family, made in through. So, we feel really good about that and very fortunate and blessed,"said Russell. Although, the fire damaged most of their family's things, their Pine Tree school family is collecting donations and gift cards to lend a helping hand to the Russell family. "Pine Tree is a great place to work because we do feel like we're a family and, in time of need and or in great demand people step up and we want him to feel supported," said Vicki Echols, Pine Tree ISD Pubilc Information officer. " The support has been just overwhelming! My wife and I just can't believe it. We have never been in a situation like this before,"said Russell. A situation that may have taken their home and belonging but didn't take their spirit. "I just feel really blessed that everybody got out ok," said Russell.

Pine Tree athletic department is accepting monetary donations and gift cards for the Russell family. Contact the school if you can help.
