Final Pep Rally Inspires Current, Future Eagles

The Tatum Eagles know what they want for Christmas, and they've been good.

Very good.

With their fans chanting three-peat, the seniors enjoyed one last Pep Rally on Friday.

"It really brings something to your heart," Tatum senior lineman Morgan Redmon said, "just knowing that's it, there's no more."

For Redmon, the pep rally was special because everyone was there and just like he did when he was in middle school and junior high, they look up to the current generation of Eagles.

"We have all the elementary and middle school kids here. I think these are the pep rallies I love the most.  It's a state championship pep rally, but some of these kids look up to you. For some of these guys, Cashas Pollard and Calvin Stoker and all those guys are their heroes."

"It's humbling, really," Redmon said, "to think there's been so much talent in Tatum for so long, for me to come along at the right time and be a part of that equation."

"The Tatum Eagles are a family. It's like a brotherhood. You could talk to a Tatum Eagle from the 1970's, and it'll mean just as much to him as it does to you."

Moody Magic, a term coined by the Abilene Christian faithful to describe a supposed mystical aura around Moody Coliseum that gives the Wildcats a winning edge, is something the Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team fell victim to a season ago. Wednesday night, the 'Jacks cast a spell of their own - one of the defensive variety - to make sure their intrastate rivals wouldn't obtain a second-straight win in the series.
