Two Students Dead After Shooting at LSU

LSU police are investigating a double homicide that took place on campus THursday night.

The homicides occurred at the Edward Gay Apartments next to the LSU Band practice field and Gov.-Elect Bobby Jindal's transition office. LSU Police identified the victims as Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam, were both male Ph.D. students at LSU, and both were international students.

Police says both students were found inside an apartment at the Edward Gay complex. LSU Police are working the case, with assistance from the Baton Rouge Police Department, but no suspects have been identified.

LSU Students were alerted by the university through an e-mail, a voice message was sent to all campus phones and postings were made on the LSU web site.

Text message alerts were also sent to students using the new emergency alert system students can sign up for. However, many students never received the message because of problems with the new system. LSU says they are investigating why the system malfunctioned.

This was the first time the emergency alert system was put into effect since being implemented.

LSUPD believe the shooting may be part of a home invasion. They are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
