Woman Sexually Assaulted In South Tyler Home

A woman was sexually assaulted in her home in a quiet South Tyler neighborhood. It happened in the 1200 block of Wimbledon Drive, that's less than a mile from another attempted rape back on April 8th at an apartment complex near Hollytree and Rice Road.

Police say the attacker could be the same person... the descriptions are very similar. In today's attack, the victim's husband came home while the suspect was still in the house. A struggle followed, but the rapist managed to get away, running down Raleigh Street.

Police searched, but they're hoping to have the public's help... so someone else doesn't become a victim.

Officer Chris Moore, Tyler Police: "We think there might be a connection with the one from early last week, we have a couple of small things that lead us to believe it might be, related, although the description is a little bit different with the height."

The height of the attacker earlier this month was reported as between 6'2" and 6'4".

The description from today's attack is a black male, 25 to 35 years old, about 5'7" to 5'9"... around 180 pounds with a muscular build and close cut hair. He was wearing a gray t-shirt, and long black shorts.

The victim's husband was also able to rip off the suspect's red nylon stocking cap. Police hope that someone in the area saw suspcious activity and will call them. Callers can remain anonymous.
