Lee Grads Flynn, Black To Play For National Title

One week ago it seemed LSU was completely out of its bid for a national title.

But Sunday night the world learned two East Texans and the Tigers have a shot to win it all.

LSU and Ohio State were selected to play in the BCS National Title Game.

Robert E. Lee graduates Matt Flynn (quarterback) and Ciron Black (offensive lineman) were on the edge of their seats waiting for the big announcement. Flynn covered his head as he waited. As the news was announced he was the first player to jump to his feet.

The top two teams, Missouri and West Virginia both lost over the weekend allowing LSU back in the hunt.

Flynn said even he felt things were over after the triple overtime loss to Arkansas.

"I felt like everything we had worked for was kind of shot down a bit, it was a tough feeling and to see this opportunity that not everybody gets, and this whole team gets it, I know the hard work that has gone into it and the emotion that has gone into it. It's just excitement and relief that we're going to get this chance."

The BCS National Title Game between LSU and Ohio state will be Monday, January 7th in the Tigers' backyard of New Orleans. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in at the Superdome.
