The Pecan House was established in Mineola in 1978 by Skeets and Frankie Turbeville. Skeets was a sweet potato farmer who began buying and cracking pecans in the off season. The Turbeville's daughter, Lou Ann Hogue, is the second generation to run the business and she's taken it to new heights.
Lou Ann has added seven crackers and a sheller, mail orders pecans all over the world and has stocked hundreds of new products, including all kinds of nuts and nut products. Lou Ann, known as "The Pecan Lady" to one and all, opens the business in October and closes it March first each year. The holiday season is the busiest with cracking for customers and selling to numerous corporations and three generations of customers.
