Runners Go The Distance for Prostate Cancer Awareness

The weather was warm Saturday morning and that suited many East Texas runners who trapsed along the Azaleas. Some runners were up at the crack of dawn for the 10K Azalea Run in Bergfeld Park benefitting prostate cancer research and awareness.

The money raised will help educate East Texas men on the disease.

"One of the messages we're trying get out to men over forty is to start going to the doctors and start taking testing for it," said Lewis George, director of the Azalea Run.

He added, "The problem with prostate cancer is there's no symptoms."

In the Azalea Runs second year back in Tyler, It's just one race of many nationwide bringing attention to prostate cancer.
