South Tyler Bank Robbed, Police Search for A Suspect

Police are searching for a suspect after a Regency Bank was robbed in South Tyler Friday afternoon.

Tyler police say at 3:45 p.m., a burglary alarm went off inside the bank, which is located on the 1000 block of South-Southwest Loop 323.

Police say a bank teller was handed a threatening note that demanded money. The teller gave the robber cash, and he fled from the bank.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the robbery.

Police say they're not sure if the suspect fled on foot, or if he had a vehicle nearby. But they're conducting a careful search in surrounding areas.

"We do have residential neighborhoods behind here, so that officers have been back there as well," said Officer Chris Moore with Tyler Police Department. The suspect is described as a white male with dirty blonde to brown hair, light eyes and a tan complexion, wearing yellow tinted glasses and a tan cap with a blue bill.

He's about 6 foot 4, 160 pounds... And believed to be about 35 to 40 years old.
