Confession To Brutal Murder of Possible "Baby Grace"

The mother of the little girl believed to be Baby Grace confesses to police. Galveston authorities say 19-year-old Kimberly Trenor described to detectives the brutal details of how the child died.

All along detectives knew Baby Grace most likely died a tragic death, but getting the answers they were looking for doesn't make the case any easier to handle.

"Any way you look at it, she's still our little girl, says Major Ray Tuttoilmondom with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators believe Baby Grace is Riley Ann Sawyers of Ohio. The girl's mother, 19-year-old Kimberly Trenor and 24-year-old Royce Clyde Zeigler, Riley's stepfather, have both been arrested in connection to the death.

Court documents show in a 14 and half hour interview with detectives, the mother explained how the two brutalized little Riley. Trenor says, inside their Spring, Texas home she and her husband "beat Riley with two separate leather belts and held her head under water in the bathtub."

The document also indicates Riley's stepfather then "picked Riley up by her hair and threw her across the room which caused her head to slam into the tile floor."

He later gave her pain medication. They then stuffed her in a plastic box and hid her body in a shed for a month or two, before tossing her the box into the Galveston causeway.

It's horrific news for the family of little Riley.

"We're devastated. It's hard to think that we'll never see her again," says Sheryl Sawyers, the girl's grandmother.

"She was very fun. There wasn't anything that she couldn't make. She had a very big imagination for a little girl," says Robert Sawyers, Riley's biological father.

Relatives say Trenor met Zeigler over the internet through the role playing game World of Warcraft. She moved to Houston to be with him, but now they're both behind bars charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence.

Officials are still waiting for DNA results to come back top confirm Baby Grace is Riley Sawyers. The District Attorney says charges will most likely be upgraded to murder. Their bonds have been set at $350,000 each.
