2008 Miracle Child Will Light Christmas Tree In Ceremony

She's been through more in her first 18 months of life than most people face in a lifetime. Berean Matthews has been named Trinity Mother Frances' 2008 Miracle Child after completely recovering from numerous birth complications. Little Berean was born almost two months premature, struggled to breath because of her immature lungs and suffered from a distended abdomen.

After 48 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, baby Berean was finally able to go home with her family who says she is nothing short of a miracle.

"We have a great church family, a lot of people were praying with us and for us, and I think the doctors were just tools that god used to bring her where she's at today...as far as we know, no problems, nothing on going, as a result of her premature birth so it's great," says Berean's dad Steve Matthews.

Because Berean has been named this year's miracle child, she will turn on the lights at the city of Tyler's tree lighting ceremony Thursday afternoon.
