Martin's Mill Breaks Ground, Signs Pair

Two Martin's Mill players broke new ground on Wednesday, signing scholarships.

Jordan Barncastle became the first Lady Mustang to sign with a Division I, inking a basketball scholarship with Texas Tech.

She led Martin's Mill to the state tournament for the last two years, bringing home a title in 2006.

Also, Christa Williams signed to play golf with Dallas Baptist University, another first for the Lady Mustangs. Williams is their first golfer ever to sign a scholarship.

Williams said golf was a family activity.

"It's been a family sport forever," she said. "It's nice that I've worked so hard, and its paid off."

For Barncastle, she hopes her college years are remembered fondly by all her friends and family.

"I'd hope that I make everybody proud when I go to Tech. I hope I represent them well."
