Marshall Police Search For Suspect In Murder Case

Marshall police say they are looking for a suspect, wanted for murdering a Marshall business man. Police say 27-year-old Orlando Flores, also known as Carlos Cruz Lorea is wanted on capital murder charges in the killing of 37-year-old Homero Hernandez. KLTV 7's LaKecia Shockley has the details.

It was a brutal and violent crime scene. "There was a violent struggle that occurred and Mr. Hernandez did resist his attacker and tried to fight off his attacker," said Marshall Chief of Police Jim Wilkins. Police say Flores, an illegal alien from Mexico, had come in contact with Hernandez before. "We've determined that Flores traveled to Marshall on November 9, 2007 by Greyhound bus arriving from Houston Texas," said Wilkins. "He appears to be an individual that Mr. Hernandez was familiar with and had previous contact with," said Harrison County District attorney Joe Black.

Authorities say Flores was last seen driving Hernandez's black 1998 Pathfinder in Marshall around midnight when he stopped at a local gas station.

"At that time Flores asked the clerk for directions to Dallas Texas. In Mr. Hernandez vehicle at
the time he was murdered was a cell phone, a computer, a digital camera, and a
.25 caliber pistol that are possibly still in the possession of Flores."

Authorities along with the Hernandez family are now asking for help in finding
Flores, so justice can be done. "Anyone coming in contact with him-- do not attempt to contact him yourself, contact your local law Enforcement agency. We do presume Flores to be very armed and very dangerous," said Black.

If convicted and found guilty on capital murder charges Flores could face live
in prison or the death penalty.
