LadyNecks Look To Dominate At State

Friday afternoon the White Oak LadyNecks will play in the state volleyball semifinals. For all but one opponent this year, the LadyNecks have served up defeat after defeat and the odds are they will do the same at state.

The LadyNecks have played 42 games this season and won 41 of those. Matter of fact, they won 41 a row.

They could also finish the season as state champions with just one loss.

White Oak won the state title in 1999. The Championship banner hangs in the gymnasium. Now the 2007 team looks to add a banner of their own.

"It's kind of surreal right now because we always look at those and wish, man, I wish our names could be up there," said Kristin Secord. "Finally, it's our chance for our names to be up there."

"We knew coming into the season that it had an opportunity to be a banner year, an excellent year," said coach Carolee Musick. "We went out early in the playoffs last year and I almost think that as disappointing as that was at the time, it was a key factor in the girls having so much passion this year."
