Local Veterans Honored At Huge, Patriotic Festival

It's the weekend America remembers our veterans who sacrificed their lives for our country. Saturday, East Texans said thanks by honoring our local veterans at one of Bullard's biggest events of the year.

The annual Red, White, and Blue Festival recognized all veterans and present military.  There was plenty of entertainment, arts and crafts and a band competition.  Veterans said it's a wonderful thing to see an entire community come together to pay tribute and reflect on the heroic services of our military.

"We're proud to be who we are, and we're proud to have served when we did serve and glad to be home too," said Ron Boyda with the Tyler chapter of The Vietnam Veterans of America.  "It's just too bad all of us didn't return, our brothers and sisters."

"It really means a lot to me that we honor them cause they were the greatest generation for World War II and a lot of other veterans too," said Heather Henrichson, Miss Texas Teen Contestant.  The patriotic festival kicked off Saturday morning with a parade and continued through the night with a street dance.
