From trash to treasure, some East Texas kids get refurbished computers for free! Forty lucky students at Jones Elementary School in Tyler received a computer complete with a keyboard, mouse, speakers, cables, and monitor all from Mustard Seed Ministries in Tyler. The students also got a crash course in how to use the computer, but they say the best part will be taking it home and figuring out the neat things they can do on it.
"Do research, do my homework, play games," said fourth grader Henry Jenkins.
"Most of the children don't have one at home. So doing homework, getting ready for school, getting ready for junior high, high school, college, if they don't have the computer skills they're really left behind," said Karen Jones with Mustard Seed Ministries.
Mustard Seed Ministries has been giving away the computers for about five years now to students in elementary school all the way up to high school. It costs volunteers about $60 for parts to repair each computer.
