It was almost 60 years ago when thousands of soldiers descended on Smith County. They were to be trained for battle in World War Two at Camp Fannin. This weekend, several of those veterans are coming together at the Camp Fannin Reunion, to remember their experiences. And Friday night there was a special throwback, U.S.O. Show for their entertainment. It was a trip back in time for these soldiers and their spouses as Class Act of Dallas--flapper-style tap dancers entertained. Some of the entertainment was local though. The "Robert E. Lee Good Vibrations" singers brought smiles to faces. And the always impressive T.J.C. Apache Belles did their thing. It was a big show, just like the old days. Those in attendance just wish all their old buddies could be here. George Cason, the Camp Fannin Association President says they've been gathering here for 11 years now. He's planning an even bigger reunion celebration for next year...their 60th anniversary.
