Woman Nearly Misses Wreck After Falling Asleep

A close call for a Tyler fire crew after a suspected drowsy driver at the height of evening traffic almost collides with their fire truck. Its happened just after seven o'clock Wednesday night. Firefighters spotted the car headed toward them in the wrong direction on west South-West Loop 323, near Old Jacksonville Highway. The driver hit a median on the loop, and just avoided hitting the fire truck.

Now because of two police incidents occurring at approximately the same time last night, there was some confusion in our reporting of this story. We now know the woman who was taken into custody was not arrested for DWI and there was not a police chase involved as we first reported. There was a DWI call at that time, but it had nothing to do with this incident. We apologize for the confusion.

But, we have since learned the woman in the loop wreck is 35 year old Karla Kay Gregg. She was arrested for possession of an unauthorized prescription drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and for three outstanding warrants.
