"Coats For Kids" Helps Hundreds Of East Texas Children
Hundreds of East Texas children received free coats Saturday morning, thanks to the "Coats For Kids" drive organized by PATH. Volunteers say people were in line as early as 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning waiting to get coats for the upcoming winter. Children up to 18-years-old can receive one. Organizers are encouraging everyone to clean out their closets and drop off any extra jackets and coats.
"There's a great need in East Texas," said PATH Community Outreach Director Becky Duncan. "For those of us lucky enough to have central air and heat, I don't think we realize some children sleep in their coats." If you didn't make it this Saturday morning, there is one more chance to receive coats. PATH will be distributing more next Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Children's Foundation. That's located on East Richards Street in Tyler.
