"Smith County Black Elected Officials" Barbeque With Texas College Students

A free barbeque for Texas College students Wednesday afternoon hosted by the Smith County Black Elected Officials.  Students had the chance to visit with past and present elected officials, like Commissioner JoAnn Hampton and City Councilman Ralph Caraway. It's all in an effort to support the college's students and celebrate during their homecoming week.

"This is an historically Black college, so you have your Black elected officials out here providing them leadership and people that they can look up to and know someday so they can be in these same positions," said commissioner JoAnn Hampton, Smith County Precinct 4.

Students and officials also enjoyed a stepshow put on by the college's fraternity and sorority members.
