Burglar Attacks Young Lindale Woman Right Outside Her Home

Jeremy Warren says an impulse to protect his family made him take off after a burglar, a man he believes has been repeatedly trying to break into a car at his home.

"I walked outside and I saw the car door open and I saw somebody hide and duck down beside the car," said Jeremy Warren.  "When I went around they took off and went off out in the field."

While Jeremy was trying to chase down the man on foot, his wife dialed 9-1-1 from the front porch. Then out of nowhere a man hiding beside the porch attacked her.

"Next thing I know I hear her screaming," said Warren.  "I ran up here and she had a big knot on her head and a big bruise on her side that's swollen where they hit her with something."

The victim's sister says this is the sixth time in a month someone has tried to break into her car.

"Every other night it's happening, it's just recently," said Amber Hale.  "I don't know what they want and I don't know what they're looking for."

This time the family says the burglar went too far.

"I can't stand him," said Hale.  "I can't believe this and to hit a woman that's ridiculous, an 18 year old girl, with her daughter standing right there."

The Smith County Sheriff's Department is now involved, trying to track down any suspects. Until they're caught the family says they won't rest easy.

"If somebody's going to be home alone, we're leaving," said Hale.  "We'll have our doors locked and everything else. Other than that, I won't stay by myself cause I don't know what they would do to me."

"I don't feel safe now," said Warren.  "I'm paranoid about it. I'm afraid he may try to come up here again or anybody's house."

The man is described as a white male, 5'6'', and 140 pounds. He was seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and black hat.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Smith County Sheriff's Department.
