Chapel Hill Drill Team Dances to National Titles

The Chapel Hill drill team danced their way to another national championship title in Denton.

"The Highlighters" won the best novelty division at nationals in for their Dr. Seuss routine. But that's not all, the drill team leaped into first in four other dance divisions including team military, officer jazz and novelty and solo performance.

Laci Swinney who also plays Dr. Seuss won the solo competition.  She says excellence in dance is a tradition at Chapel Hill High School.

"There's 15 seniors and that's the most seniors we've ever had on the drill team and 15 underclassman," says Laci Swinney.  "It worked out really well. We have a lot of leaders on our team."

This is the fourth straight year the Highlighters and their instructor, Dee Anne Sloan, have won national dance titles.
