Wind Gust Topples Portion of Radio Station Tower

A gust of wind from storms Monday is believed to have taken down part of a 300-foot radio tower in Henderson County.

The collapse knocked country music station KCKL 95.9 off the air. The station had a crane on the scene for re-construction within a few hours, and they hope to be back on the air Tuesday.

KCKL's David Gates says, "When the transmitter doesn't respond, you come out to the tower site. "

Reporter: "What did you think when you got out here?"

Gates: "It's going to be a busy day."

The tower was 25-years-old.  KCKL radio serves most of Henderson County and surrounding areas, from near Brownsboro all the way west to Corsicana.
