Television Anchor Shares Public Breast Cancer Battle With East Texans

She had a very public battle with breast cancer.

Television anchor Leslie Mouton continues to share her story with East Texas patients and survivors at ETMC's "Pink Ribbon Getaway" Friday.

Mouton was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 35.

Her television career as an anchor allowed cameras to document her journey. She even went as far as anchoring the news bald at her station in San Antonio to give other women hope.

"I met women who would be afraid to walk around their own home alone without their wig on because they couldn't face themselves bald. And I thought if they could see me on television bald, maybe it could alleviate that fear and anxiety of losing your hair," Mouton tells KLTV 7.

Mouton also says she didn't have a history of cancer in her family and stresses doing monthly self-examinations.
