All Clear At East Texas Office, Evacuated From Meth Lab Chemical Spill
Business is back to normal Friday at the Smith County Office Building, a day after an apparent drug chemical spill.
The spill in the building's basement prompted an employee evacuation and eventually led officials to close the building for the day.
Officials said two officers were moving a container packed with chemicals comphiscated from a meth lab bust.
That's when the container broke, spilling the chemicals in a cloud of smoke.
A crew from Fort-Worth was brought in to remove and dispose of the chemicals properly.
Late Thursday, Smith County Judge Joel Baker told KLTV 7 those chemicals are now out of the building and an air quality test showed no danger of exposure, so employees are asked to return to work as normal.
